Hi!

I just bought the TI-84+ Silver and now im trying to learn programming TI-Basic.
I installed the TI-Connect tool, but windows can't read the .8xp files.
So i was wondering:
Which program do i need to convert or edit these files in windows? And where do i find it?

Thanks =)

TI-Basic is normally programmed directly on the calculator. I don't know a program to write TI-Basic on the computer.

To write a new program/edit an old you just have to press the "PRGM"-key whe nyou are in the normal home-screen-mode like when you turn your calc on.
Then you can go to "NEW", press ENTER, type in a name and start programming.
You can quit with 2nd:MODE (Quit) and open a list of a few basic commands when you re-press "PRGM".
If you wrote a program and want to test it, you go to the home-screen, press PRGM, go to EXEC, scroll to the program and hit ENTER.
Everything is a userfriendly so it won't be difficult...

I hope I could help you

You can write programs on the computer with TI-Graphlink, which is avalible from TI's website. You can then use TI-Connect to transfer the program.

Source Coder 2 is supposed to be able to create new projects, edit current projects, etc. You would have to ask on Cemetech the current abilities though...

TI-Connect once had a program editor, but then they took it (somewhere around ver. 1.5?).
However, if you have an older version, you just might be able to somehow install just the program editor, and use an updated TI-Connect version (don't know how I got it to work so don't ask :icon13: ).

I happen to have TI-Connect v1.5.

I have isolated the program editor that came with TI-Connect and compacted it into a .rar file. I have attached it to this post.

.RAR without font: [attachment=659:attachment].ZIP with font: [attachment=2462:attachment]Program Editor Font: Link

[Edit - 31 August 2008 I]
If you do not have TI-Connect installed on your computer, you will need to install the font set linked above in order for the characters to appear correctly. The modified font set is based on TheStorm's original font. It has been modified in order to work correctly with the program editor. I have also included a batch file with the font package for easy installation.

[Edit - 31 August 2008 II] I've created a .zip package containing both the font set and program editor. Download it from the link above.

[Edit - 12 December 2009] Links updated to reflect latest update to forum

Just wanted to let you people know that SC2 is going forward again. I got exporting and project saving to work. Right now I'm stuck on deletion confirmation.

How come when I use it, it will say it added bytes, but it's the same program? And when I click on "parse another program", it takes me to SC 1 and not SC2.

The optimizer gets a bit confused sometimes - even though it made it smaller, it reports the smaller version as being larger. Thanks for the report about the Parse Another Program button; I'll fix that.

How do I open the .rar file? I don't have a program to open it with. What should I download to get it working?

It says it is shareware, but for some reason, when I click on the red X in Windows to close the dialog, it ignores that I did not buy it...

After 30 days it just annoys you with reminders. It's not a trial program.

Thanks for the help. Wink I have one more quick question about the program editor. Do I need to type the colons at the beginning of each line, or does it put that in automatically?

No colons for their prgm editor. I don't think you have to put them in on any editor I have seen...

OK, thanks. This is my first time programming on the computer, so I needed a little help. Smile But now I'm ready to go! Thanks again!

[Edit] Scratch that last part. I seem to have a problem opening some files on the editor. I took a program off of my calc and put it onto the computer. When I try to open it in the editor, an error comes up saying:
"Cannot open the file {directory}. Unknown tag value in program image: 187 176" I have no idea what this means, and there is nothing there on the program editor help file. Any idea what this means?
