I have six textbooks I carry around, plus binders and notebooks. And, of course, the miscellaneous things like calculator and stuff. My locker has become my best friend this year. |

The PE lockers don't have locks, even though that's a contradiction of terms. If I kept it in my school locker there'd be no point in bringing it to school at all.
Quote: 3 whole books! Wow.
Actually two of them are smaller (for French and German) so my life is not as horrible. Of course, I got an English workbook today so it soon might be...
Quote: True, but I think I'd prefer to have a laptop with me since I can keep an eye on it easily, and my class is pretty cool so it's only a very small risk that it get's stolen, and I can easily carry it around in my backpack.
Well, some of the people in some of my classes are no one I'd want to leave my stuff around.
Quote: If your school is really the way you say it is, I think I should move there myself.
Don't recommend it. Everyone says it's in a bad part of town, plus it's in a backwater place called Raleigh, North Carolina. Plus I'm really lucky with the teachers I have, my friend has many more books to carry around. |

Hey! My backpack weighs 25 lbs with no extra space too!
I'll call it the "Rule of the Ammount of Matter that the Spinal Column of a High School Student Must be capable of Supporting Without Damage to Nerves or Sideways Growth." |

Maybe I'll get one, but considering I don't use any of my current TI's (82, 83, 83p, 83pse, 85, 86, 89) anymore I probably should use the money for other things, and perhaps sell some of the TI's that I do have.

I'd be interested in buying one, maybe two, if you decide to sell any of them.
When was the last time you used one anyway? |

Um...maybe 3-4 months ago to test a program for someone in this group ( I won't mention what or for who ). Other then that, easily 3-4 years before then.
I am out of batteries, and don't really desire to use them for recreational use anymore. But I should hang on to one or two of them for college math courses that will be coming up soon.

Last I used one was a few hours ago. Played Oblivion for the 89. Awesome game. |

Note the word perhaps in the sentence. |

Hmm, appears he hasn't yet...
I'm actually considering saving up some money and buying one of the new calculators. Just for the heck of it. Probably will go with the 89Ti, since it has more features. |

Just so you know, there are a whole lot of apps for the 83/84 calculators that you can get that give them the functionality of an 89. Things like Graph^3, Symbolic, etc. |

I have yet to see an app that allows an 83/84 to calculate an indefinite integral, find the common denominator, or even expand a function. (Plus all the room saved makes way for more games. ) But yes, I am aware of such apps.

My calculus book says that a program to calculate an indefinite integral is easy to make (doesn't say how). You find the common denominator in Basic using lcm(, and I've written a basic expand( function once. |

Such functions are built into the 89 operating system. (And I hope TI leaves them in there...) But I'd still want to go with more memory, seeing as how that's the only thing, minus the USB, that TI seems to be able to improve on... |

The TI-83 + SE has more memory than the 89. |

The 83+/SE operating system is 540 KB or so, whereas the 89 operating system is 1208 KB or so. (Numbers off the top of my head.) The 83+/SE has 1.5 MB of free memory, which added with the OS and RAM makes about 2 MB. (Fair enough?)
The 89 has close to 700 KB of free memory (too long to explain details), added with RAM (around 188 KB or so) plus the OS makes about the same amount.
The 89Ti has 2.7 MB of available memory on the other hand...

When you use up 1.5 MB of a calculator's memory you tell me. |
