oK i have a TI-83+. I need to put in letter's (ie: A's B's C's D's). I need my calc to store these letters the way I put them in and then I need to be able to display them at a later time.

I searched and found this TI board so I am hoping someone will help me. So if you can spread your knowledge on how I can do this please do.

Thanks a lot.

To store them to a string:

go to the home screen
" ([2nd]+[+])
put in the letters
-> ([STO])
Str1 ([Vars] [7] [1])
Enter

to recall the string later
Rcl [2nd]+[STO]
Str1
Enter

or just Str1 Enter

Edit: read the manual (it might have come with the calculator or you can find it online for free).

Chapter 15: CATALOG, Strings,Hyperbolic Functions/Entering and Using Strings

Chapter 1: Operating the TI-83 Plus/Recalling Variable Values/Using Recall (RCL)

Chapter 1: Operating the TI-83 Plus/VARS and VARS Y-VARS menus/selecting a variable from the VARS menu or the VARS Y-VARS menu.

Actually, you should read the whole manual and memorize it until you know it by heart. Smile

well, just memorize the basics. the advanced stuff comes after you use the calc for heavy programming for several years (1 for me)

hehe thats funny that some teachers clear the memory. its so easy to just make a group and ungroup it when you start the test. in my physics class you can't use a graphing calc for tests. Neutral which sucks especially after relying on programs to do the work for me Smile
