"Several decades" is the fastest unit of time I've heard when learning about things happening in space, save for explosions and pulsars and the usual fast things.

We've found a super Earth that is comprised of roughly 1/3 diamond.

It seems as if ftl travel is describable using Einsteinian physics. Note that we cannot travel faster than light, just that there are two sets of physics that define ftl and stl travel. These physics sets (may/may not) traversable..

This is really really really really old. I have no idea why this is news, except that the mathematicians who did it didn't bother to check the literature first and then proceeded to "OMG NEW SCIENCE" to some news agencies. Tachyons have been described at least back into the 60s. The problem with tachyons, is that they are described in terms of imaginary mass and "negative energy", which are physically meaningful only in so far as they represent certain classes of instabilities that condense back to ordinary "bradyonic" mass/energy almost immediately.

I'd like to think everyone here knows this, but just in case:
25 miles up is not "the edge of space". That would be 50 miles up if you're NASA, or 62 miles up if you're the rest of the world.
Here's an image demonstrating how far he was from "space":

42 light years away... Coincidence? I think not!
Or Douglas Adams was actually an alien from that planet and left clues in his works. He never actually died, he just went home, and is waiting for us to follow the clues he left for us.

Thought this was pretty darned cool. It's a 360 degree view of what Curiousity saw on August 22, 12.
