I just tried using them, as well, and it seems to work fine. Just [<] and [>] arrows to select, enter to build.

You do see the build road menu, though? It's just that when you make a selection they all build as the first one?
No only the first one buils on the map the rest just go to the map and nothing is built where the cursor was.

Since it's a few years since I made it, I can safely say that I think it's fun, but that I think at this point I could probably come up with a more entertaining rendition. Nevertheless, I hope that you enjoy it.
