Cleaning xbox 360 analog stick

Does anyone know how to properly clean an xbox 360 analog stick. Mine is starting to get stuck in one position. I have searched a lot for an answer to this and the only things I can find tell you how to replace one, I also cannot find my manual which generally tells you how to do it.

Cotton swab and rubbing alcohol.
