I know this is probably already posted somewhere, but I can't seem to find a straightforward answer to the following question:
Is there a command to convert from string to equation, and vice versa (without evaluating said equation in the process)?

I am wondering this specifically for the TI-83+/84+ Graphing Calculator
What?

You either have a string containing the equation, or you have the evaluation of the equation as a number. There is no in-between. Unless I’m misunderstanding the question.

Edit:
You do have the option of storing the string containing your equation to one of the Y-vars, such as Y1, Y2, etc. which can then be evaluated later.
