Executing a BASIC program via Asm?

Happy Murica' day everyone-

Question- I know it can be done, as shells do it all the time, but how exactly does one execute a BASIC code from Asm?

I would image you need to scan the VAT, find the program, and then... and then what? I'd image you need to jump to some interpretation script somewhere...

Any help is appreciated!

There are probably some pitfalls there regarding what happens in case of an error or if the program does something funny, but I'm not familiar with them.
