The Ti89 is almost 2 times slower than hp (with mine userRPL). Nevertheless i still remember my first userRPL program (that uses a lot lists, global variables and so on. So really unefficient from the stack point of view), and it's comparison with the Ti89 of one of my friends.
I wrote the Ti89 code almost instantly (and i didn't have it!) and i got 41 seconds against 44 sec with my same program modified by one of the best Hp user. Then i said "whoa, even with only 12mhz vs 75mhz, the Ti89 is able to beat the hp50g in terms of computational power!". But then i really didn't know much.
