How exactly are you supposed to use files that are include in the "tools" folder of Mimas to convert to/from its appvar format? When I open any of the exe files (in Windows 7), a terminal window pops up, and then immediately disappears. I also don't know what to do with the "makefile" on a mac. (I have access to both)
Any assistance would be welcome |

These are command-line programs. I'd suggest that you take some time to learn how to use the command line; you'll be better off for it.  But anyway, in Windows (older versions, at least; I assume this is still true of Windows 7), you can also simply drag an 8xv file onto the 8xvtoasm.exe icon, and it will be converted for you.
I haven't tested the tools on a Mac, but they should work: if you've installed the "development tools" package that comes with OS X, you can compile the Mimas tools by (again, from the command line) running make in the tools directory. Then run, e.g., "./8xvtoasm foo.8xv" to convert a file.
