So I was working on a few projects around here this summer thinking of featuring some of them online again. Ever since Geocities U.S. disolved, I figured it would be a good idea to try an easy-to-manage blog format or something rather than building a website brick by brick. Blogspot seems to be fairly popular, but I wanna know if there's any others I should try out; how they manage pricing/ads, etc. And does Adsense really cover the cost at all? |

From what I hear, it's quite hard to make any substantial cash doing blogging. Like what 10 cents per view and no one ever views them. D |

I like blogspot, I had a teacher in college that liked to use it for every class. I do know a guy that funds himself completely from adsense and he runs a fairly small site so I think you could get a enough cash to keep everything going. |

Yeah, it might not be a bad idea then. Actually, I don't care if it pays but it would be extra sweet to have it pay for itself. Now I just need some actual content... |

Wordpress works as a nice blogg. I don't know how to use it for cash but a search can reveal your way through.
Good luck. |

Okay wait a minute, here's a possible pitfall.
In my old site, I would feature each project on a main directory page just to highlight what it was about. A blog seems okay for this, since I need a place to feature the highlights and headlines of a project. And user posting would be cool too.
But by clicking the project, you would jump to a full-blown page featuring lots of images, PDFs, source files, and other details. I don't know if a regular blog would include that kind of open-ended layout. Still, I'd like a avoid hand-coding the whole thing because that's a huge time-killer. Is this still in step with what a blog can do, or should I maybe be looking at a page-builder or something? |

Okay, what about web hosting in general? Are there any hosts in particular that stand out as good and not-too-expensive? This time around, I'll need something that supports Java, Javascript, and possibly XML in case I decide to go that route. |

Looks like I'll go with Google web hosting. Seems pretty hassle-free and easy to set up. |

Are you talking to yourself again Digi? Google hosting sounds like a decent enough service. |

Hey! Madskillz is back!
Yeah, there's been some serious office politics at work, so I'm really rushing to get some impressive projects back on the web. Plus, that RW stuff has to go somewhere! |

Right on, I understand completely. I'm done with school and been working to get everything up to date. I've been doing some iphone programming so I gotta eventually get my site live so people can check that out. |
