So I wanted to use Wabbitemu to run programs on computer. I want to write the programs on my computer, then manually transfer them once they have been tested. SO I downloaded Wabbitemu and it asked me for a rom to start. I have no idea what the means besides read only chip. Can I create a rom on the computer using Ti-Graph Link 83 plus? |

There are a few ways to get ROMs, one, which isn't quite legal is to download one (if you can find it) another is to get a rom dump and build it. I'd search on ticalc for their rom dump software and use that. |

rom8x is your best option. It's easy, reliable, and it works with any linking software AFAIK. Just be sure to look through the readme first. |

If you install the TI-83+ SDK you'll find usable ROM dumps in C:\Program Files\TI Education\TI-83 Plus Flash Debugger\Exe (adjust for your installation of Windows) - TI83Plus.clc for the TI-83+, TI83ps.clc for the TI-83+ Silver Edition and TI73.clc for the TI-73. |

So do any of those require me to connect my calculator, because I don't have a link for my 83+. |

83+ doesn't have usb...
@Bhaliar: all the legal methods require you to connect to your calculator, indeed. |

You would only have to buy a Silverlink cable, which is compatible with 83+ |

Not that the feds are going to hunt you down if you look for a rom on the webz, but yeah, you probably should acquire a silverlink (does TI still sell those?) if you don't have a serial port in your PC. (most newer pc's don't)

So anything that will connect my calculator to my computer should work. Even if I rip apart a usb cable and put an end so it will work with my calc? |

Using the SDK as benryves suggested is legal and does not require a cable, so just do that. and be done with it. |

Bhaliar wrote: So anything that will connect my calculator to my computer should work. Even if I rip apart a usb cable and put an end so it will work with my calc? Not if you're trying to connect through the I/O port. If you look at a picture of the Silverlink, it has some sort of processor/translator mid-cable that would probably be impossible to replicate yourself. The USB port, however, does indeed work with any mini-USB to USB cable.
TheStorm wrote: Using the SDK as benryves suggested is legal and does not require a cable, so just do that. and be done with it. He may also eventually want the cable to send stuff to his calc, though that would certainly be the easiest and most reliable solution. |

So, Im downloaded the SDK as you suggested. When I tried to access the rom like you told me, Wabbit emu didn't show any in the window under exe. It was just blank. Any help would be nice.
Help would be nice. I followed benryvves directions exactly, and there weren't any roms. Sorry for name butcher.

I think a lot of infomation on how to actually do a rom dump is missing, ( the reason i say that is because i have been trying to use vti's rom wizard and i can't get it to work for anything |

VTI's ROM wizard is pretty useless. Seriously, try rom8x. You use an ASM program on-calc that dumps the ROM to an AppVar, then you transfer it to your computer and convert it to a usable file. Absolutely flawless. |

Wabbitemu is probably looking for *.rom files, whereas TI have given then a *.clc extension. Type "*.clc" into the ROM selection box filename and press Enter, and the files should be listed (alternatively, copy them and change the extension to *.rom, or just drag-and-drop the *.clc files onto Wabbitemu). |

Got it to work, thanks. Also, is there any way to copy and paste or other variation on how to get program codes? |

It's important to note that Virtual TI's ROM wizard really is dumping the entire ROM back from the calculator to the PC through the graph link cable, and rom8x does not do that.
rom8x lets you dump the boot page(s) from your calculator and then cobmine them on your PC with an OS upgrade off education.ti.com to produce a complete ROM, which means you can't emulate older OS versions.
rom8x is undoubtedly easier, but it depends on what you're after. |
