I didn't know where else to post this, but I'm running Chip's Challenge on a Ti-83+ Silver Edition. After I get past the main menu and into the game itself, my calculator screen keeps scrolling vertically and won't stop. The game runs fine and my calculator doesn't crash, it's just that the tilemap itself (not the scoring box) won't stop moving even when I don't touch any keys.

Any suggestions?

It means your LCD driver is slower than average. Have you tried the LCD fix?

Well, now the screen doesn't shift as fast, but it still does it

Okay, try this (might give a larger delay than ALCDFIX):

Code:
:AsmPrgm

It works! Thanks! But just to make sure nothing is wrong with my settings, is the gray-scale supposed to be flickerless, or is it flickered?

Unless you're really lucky, there should be some flicker. Razz

Yes it is, I haven't put it down yet! I've played the windows version, and all I can say is, not only are you an ASM master, calc84maniac (how I envy you), but you also choose quality over "getting it done." This game is very well done indeed Smile

I have the same problem, except that I'm not running the app from TIOS but from XOS emulation layer. I thought it came from a bug in the emulation layer until I found this thread.

Is there a way to fix this that does not require altering lcd delay port? (do you set the calc into fast speed? do you use "hard" delays or do you check bit 7 of port $10? ... )
Actually it may not be the lcd's fault after all. TIOS enables mem delays by default while XOS does not which may explain the speed difference leading to LCD "malfunction".

edit : turns out my guess about mem delays was correct. apart from the VAT access Chip's Callenge is surprisingly emulation-friendly Very Happy

I can't afford to poll the port with all this grayscale action going on. Razz I have a delay of about 67 cycles (and 65 was the recommended).
