1. dont stand in the open
2. wait until they are low on paintballs, then attack
3. battle-cries arent the best thing...
4. if you hold the trigger just right, the recoil of a shot will launch another, creating an effective machine gun.

Should I walk calmy aka sniper style (keeping near/in cover) or run from cover to cover?

Oh, and should we move in pairs/small groups or go mostly solo in team games? (when in a group assign everybody a simple task, like middle, front, back guys?)

Should I learn military hand-signals? Evil or Very Mad

Yeah, its a good idea to stay with mabey another guy or two, unless they're idiots. Stay behind trees and such and just scout out and snipe, and make sure its clear before you advance to another postition. A good idea is to let the other guy you're with lead the way, to see if he gets shot up :)

Don't stay with too many guy's, it will be easy to see you. Don't spend a lot of time in one place, keep yourself moving. Also, don't try to fire to many paintballls at once or in a row because they could break in your barrel, or you could run out fast, then you would be screwed.

Sneaking around has its limitations because in most cases you will be playing in the woods or in an area with a lot of leaves, and an observant defender can see and hear a lot more than you sometimes think he can. A good tactic if you have enough people is to have one person brazenly go in making a ton of noise and firing haphazardly at the enemy while another sneaks around to a good close sniping position to take out the distracted foe.

I have a frined who modified one to fire about 4 to 10 a second.

It has an extremely large hoper & extra big CO2 tank.

Well, there's a 5yrds safety zone around ever player so there is no damage, and I'm going to wear some decent clothes + the suit we get at the field.

What kind of guns does everyone have? i have a tippmann 98 custom.
O and arcane u should run from cover to cover. That is the best thing to do.
Staying behind and sniping does nothing.

Dont worry about a cup. I play all the time and never got hit in the nuts.

does your class play alot? if so you can pull off some pretty awsome strategy. if you are sunday players, then READ. any military strategy, survival, camoflage using surroundings, setting up personel at a vantage point under cover can be crucial to locating enemy movement, do you use walkie talkies? maybe im taking it too far but i like that kind of thing Razz

how long do games usually last?

I've only played once, but I'd say if it's possible, fire off a few 'practice' rounds at a stone or something when the match starts and make sure those pesky paintballs are flying where they're supposed to.

With all this talk of strategy and survival, I'm thinking "Paintball" wouldn't be a bad idea for a calc game! Cool

I have a lot to say about this topic. I go paintballing every weekend, in fact I am going tomorow. I am concidered the best player among my friends and I take out full autos like the angel and rainmaker all the time with my $50 semi. Enough about me, lemme talk about you playing tuesday:

The field you are playing at looks very nice. Since it is all woods you should wear camo. You would be suprised how much harder you are to see with colors that blend in. I usually wear camo jeans, sneakers, and a camo t-shirt.

I recommend you dont travel with more than 1 other person when you play. If you are in a large group you are easier seen, the enemy could take out more of your team when your all in the same area, and when you split up you have the chance to surround the other team.

You dont need to fire too rapidly and dont try to fire through bushes. The gun you are using is a good one, better than mine. It is allright to camp out but it might get boring. When moving, dont run from place to place fast because motion will get you seen. Move from cover to cover at a walk pace so you can watch for the enemy.

If someone is firing at you, dont run away. Get cover and fire back. You can run if you are outnumbered but dont run too far, camp out and catch them when they go after you. Dont fire at someone if they are behind cover and you cant see them. Wait for them to popup and then shoot. Also dont be afraid to charge at them if there is cover inbetween you and them.

Say both of you have cover and you are both shooting at eachother and nobody is getting hit. This is the time when you would not want to stay there and waste paint but sneak around or forward depending on terrain and barriers.

So far I have been talking about ctf and wooded games. With speedball camo doesnt really matter. What you want to do is have your team get as far forward as possible using cover to try to get behind the other team or surround them from the sides. It is good to travel in pairs in speedball so you can cover eachother while you move from barrier to barrier. With wooded games the quality of your gun doesnt matter that much, but with speedball autos and acurate guns will have a greater advantage.

When you are facing off with an enemy in speedball you need to be careful when running from barrier to barrier, but with wooded areas, where there is more distance and brush between you, you can run farther distances between barriers. Make sure you run/crawl everywhere in speedball and walk while listening and watching in wooded areas.

That is all that i can really tell you. Skill comes with experience in paintball. Just have fun.

Okie, thanks.

Nah, we where looking for something to do with the holidays as a class, and since bowling (what 'every' wanted to do) was very expensive I mentioned that we should go paintball and a guy in my class who had gone paintballing once or twice before convinced the rest of the class to go and everybody got pretty exited about it so he set it up for us. I'd say 90% of our class has never played before and 50% had never even heard of it before I mentioned it last week.

You are Smile But reading about military strategy and such would probably be a good idea if I'd want to play more often.

Quote:

From what I've heard it can range from several minutes to a full hour, depending on the circumstances. We get to play for 3 hours and after each game we'll have a couple of minutes to refill co2/paint, drink a bit, and switch to another field.

Before the games begin there's a couple of minutes to shoot some practise rounds in the practise area, http://www.gladiator.nl/baan.jpg So I'll be sure to fire a couple of rounds there.

I thought so too, but I'm going to have to finish learning asm first.

We'll get a camo sout from the field so that would have to suffice because I don't have any of my own camo.

Shouldn't I fire back a couple of rouds first, or is cover really important?

Yeah, I just wanted to have some pointers to keep in mind so I wouldn't have to walk back to the safety zone 2 minutes after the game starts. Smile

Either way works. If they have cover i recommend you get cover too or they will most likely hit you before you hit them. if they dont have cover then you can do it either way. My point was that you should not run away but fire back using cover. Say you are walking in the woods and someone starts firing at you and you duck behind a hill or something. dont run off but shoot back at him because you have cover and he may or may not.

Haha, it was:

AWESOME!!!

First match was ctf, so our team quickly made a plan and I was to stay back a bit and provide cover/back up for everybody near the base and of course guard the flag. Pretty soon there are 2 sneaky people coming up from the right near the line so I put my marker up and nailed them pretty quick. Not too much later another pair arrives at the same place but they get distracted by one of my teammates from the left and when one of them tries to flank him I get this lovely open shot of his side and open fire. Not much later the other guy tries to do the same and he's down too. Everything quiets down for a while but soon I hear a heavy firefight going on at the center of the map so I advance, keeping to the edge of the field. When I arrive there's this guy of the opposing team who is doing pretty well at getting himself out of a nasty position so when he starts pinning down what's left of my team I crawl towards a better position and shoot a short burst of paint towards his side, which missed. However, since he was shooting at the rest of my team and vice versa, he didn't notice me and my next burst hit him full on. There's only 3 or four guys of my team left by now, including me, but their team had 4 or 5 left so one of my teammates, who was out of ammo, went for the flag while I distracted the enemy team. I get pinned down pretty fast so I try to flank them from the left, but then it's the end of round one.

Total Kills: 5 Deaths: 0
Teams: 0-0

Second round started out pretty boring, couldn't find the other team anywhere, exept one guy in some small tower which I couldn't hit because there where these annoying branches in the way. I didn't want to advance through the left area of the field either, because pretty much our entire team was there all hiding behind the same cover even though the instructor told them that was a pretty stupid thing to do. So when while I'm covering the right side I end up just to the left of to of my teammates getting pinned down by some guy, but I couldn't seem to hit him so when I try to move round to a better fireing position he takes my out with a single well placed shot.

Total Kills: 5 Deaths: 1
Teams: 0-0

The next game was team-deathmatch (Last Man Standing) and the other team was camping like nutters, they had an entire line of cross fire layed down across the map and anybody of my team that tried to advance was taken down pretty quickly. I retreat a bit and move through my base to the left side of the map, where I arrive unnoticed and when it get's pretty quiet I see two of their team stand up and calmy walking to another bit of cover, I managed to give them a nice layer of paint from my cover and run some more to the left of the map where I advance a bit. Not much later I see somebody who noticed me try to flank me and fire some paint at him, somehow I missed and he jumps down behind some cover and returns fire. I fall back down behind some other cover and loose sight of him for a second, next thing I know he's fireing like mad from my side and I jump backwards fireing my gun at him too. We somehow both miss eachother and I end up behind some other cover while he tries to fire another burst at me, however, his gun wasn't fireing any paint so I grabbed my chance and took him out. Then I get hit on my chest from the right again and it turns out I was the last left on my team and was surrounded by 7 guys of the other team.

Total Kills: 7 Deaths: 2
Teams: 1-0 for the enemy

Next game both teams camp like nutters and I only get 2 kills, one of which was illegal because I apparantly got too close.

Total Kills: 9 Deaths: 0
Teams: still 1-0 for the enemy

Nest game is a pretty free lance game, both teams have a pole to defend and when you touch the opposing team's pole you win. When you are hit you return to you base and start again, which was awesome. It was the last game so we just played until everybody was out of paint. I got a kill but not much later my gun was messed up (it's range suddenly decreased to 1 yard) and I missed some prefect opportunities because the other team was getting distracted a lot and nobody seemed to notice me. I return to base to get my gun fixed but it was too late, while I'm obeserving the game with the instructor and someone who was out of paint the enemy wins the match.

Total Kills: 10: Deaths: 2
Teams: 2-0 for the enemy

Fun!

Oh, and does anybody know of any paintball computer games or paintball mods for games like unreal tournament?
