I got a new 84+SE on 9/9/09. For some strange reason it dosn't need ALCDFIX. Any guesses as to why?

I don't know if this changed anything but when I turned it on the first time I got an almost black screen with some randomly white pixles before the RAM cleared message. Later, I cleared the RAM and this "screen" didn't show up.

My guess is that the LCD RAM contained random data. When your calculator freezes and you turn it back on, it shows whatever used on the screen while it clears the RAM.

Edit:
On a side note, I'm taking a survey. Razz The letter at the end of your calculator's serial number on the back should tell you the hardware revision. Since yours is pretty new, it should be the last revision so far. Can you tell me what that letter is? (This should help with my research for fixing TI-Boy)
