winzip has a free 30-day trial, and just gives an annoying message if you use it beyond that

you can use 7zip, its fast(er?) and multicore, but you cant copy-paste stuff into the archive...
there is also a portable version, for your USB drive

Google?

If you need to extract compressed files but don't have the programs handy, try wobzip.org. If/when you get WinRAR for compression, know that its "limited use" is only limited in that it asks for registration each time you use it after 30 days – nothing more. All that payment does is prevent an extra box from showing up, but you can avoid it altogether by using the right-click menu (which you should allow upon installation). Also, WinRAR supports compressing/extracting ZIP files, so you don't need WinZip.

But, yeah. Google.

If you have to use third party software, then use 7-Zip; it's free (WinRAR requires payment past its 30 day trial, unless you've got a wooden leg and a parrot on your shoulder).
