Looks really like a pokemon except the trees...
How far do you intend to advance the game?
And welcome to UTI! |

I'm totally interested in your overworld mappy thing. I myself prefer 8x8 tiles because you see more of the map, so it's a bit easier to navigate in large areas. however, I'd like to see your code for it.
I'm making a game for myself, only I'm focusing on the battling aspects. I have had to extend this to cover stored Pokemon and Trainer info. It's the memory issues that are slowing me down. |

That's the Emulator that makes it so laggy I think?
For the mapping I use a 20*20 matrix, and each time you go from 1 map to an other, the whole matrix is re-made
there are 36 maps in the whole game, all finished yet. (the inside of the buildings not yet)
All the pokemon data is finished(picture, start attacks, attack(special and normal), speed, defense(special and normal), XP points, types, how it evolves to a better one,...)
The fighting engine is getting finished, all attacks are programmed (graphicly) and most of the engines are finished.
Now I'm imputting other attack info like the base damage of all the attacks.
here you can see the pokémons (attachment)
and also some other part of the map. |

Wow that is quite impressive it almost looks like you took pokemon and shrunk it to a 96*64 screen. |

Very cool indeed, the sprites are really amazing and the work you have complete is great! I hope to see this released soon, 16x16 really takes some talent which you seem to have!

2 suggestions:
Use Masked Sprites!
Have a more gui type thing for the input of text. When playing a game like pokemon, people should forget they are playing on a calculator, just like you would get into a movie. Using the basic input command like that makes me thing: "wow, everything else is good, but this.. this just makes me not want to play... oh well..."
Just some suggestions thought.
P.S. Great work on the sprites. |

He does use masked sprites, to a certain point. He could just use them better. |

Indeed, I do use masked sprites, but not when the player switches between maps (I will correct that as soon as I can)
Thanks for the ideas,Graphmastur, I will change the text input.
Anybody some Ideas for the inside of the gyms? I have a stone, water, electricity, poison, ghost,fire-water and dragon gym and I don't know yet how the inside of the gym is going to look like. I have the pictures of the gyms in the real game, but If anyone has an cool idea for it , tell me
Here's (attachment) is a little part of the fighting system
don't watch the pause in it, that for the programming. |

Yes, this is going fast! Have you added in the World map? Will this be like Red Blue Yellow? I am guessing so, seems like it. |

Unlike many he knows the danger in announcing a project too early |

wow, i feel completely upstaged by his project, lol :D
It seems I will need to resort to some spectacular stuff to progress, but I'm slowing myself down by worrying about duplicating the battle engine as well as i could :(
still, I'm doing whatever I can to conserve memory and add new features in the future, so we'll see how things go in the long run.
