I love pokemon. The one thing I have against them is that the files are HUGE! All those stats and pretty graphics are adding up to a gigantic program. Size is just about the first thing that comes to my mind. My calc doesn't have that much room

The whole game will take less then 275 kilobyte's, so unless you have a TI83+ , it should fit

Considering their progress, they've got an awful lot of their game done, so I think we may see a finished version by the end of the year.

Of course, I'm only speculating. As I'm working on a similar project, I do know the challenges and possible setbacks for something so complicated. Hence, they have done very well so far.

Still in the project :)

It's just going very slow because of higher education :(

Anyway, I continue with it :)

I'm programming some houses at the moment and I made a structure of my programs on paper (witch helps a lot)

Sounds cool.
As you know, planning on paper helps big projects a lot.

Why isn't this in the Project Ideas/Start New Projects Forum? It's going so well, I don't know why it shouldn't be there.

O.K., This is looking amazing. It has been a while since I have built an RPG, but I know what it is like to create sprites and tilemaps to use with Celtic3. I just remembered two programs I made a while back called MAPMAKE and EDITPIC. These are extremely useful. I have it included, but it can be found on TICalc.org, too, under BASIC Tools (by Sven Thomas).

Oh, and for a name... try Amber. It can be based on the fossil pokémon and its feature pokémon could be Aerodactyl ☺. I tried that a while back, but my game didn't get past the title screen and walking.

Use BinRead for sprites if they are stored in progs or appvars followed by identity(5,Ans... It is a memory friendly method, especially if they are archived.

det(14,"rowSwap(POKESPRT",16A,16 ;A is the sprite # starting at 0. Ans is the detokenized sprite data
identity(5,Ans,x,y,2,16,0,0,1 ;The 16x16 sprite will be displayed at (x,y).

☺I use Courier New, size 11 for my readme's.☺

Thats a good idea, using appvars, I'll consider it.
About the name, the name is allready elected by a poll, and it's Pokemon Obsidian, I just don't know how to change the name of this topic :)

Thanx for the advice

I think you can change the name by editing the first post and changing something. (I'm not sure though.)

This is a nice project. Hopefully you can find some time soon. :)

Edit: I think "Amber" refered to the name of your rival, mabey.

I'm programming the items right now. besides the regular items, I also want to put some crazy items in the game with or without purpose (useless expensive things like a golden teeth for example)
anybody any ideas?

I think they are already doing that.

there is an other cheat pokémon in the game (as you can see on the pokémon sprites I posted earlier, the ugly thing above oak and at the right side of mew, with the number 152) and there's an other way to get this one.
anyway, his name is DIJASTIM and he's quite strong. The whole game is also filled with a lot of other easter eggs, but I'm not going to tell them yet, you will see them (I hope) when the game is finished.

Also, Missingno isn't a secret Pokemon, but an error message that manifested as a Pokemon through a glitch.

yea, hence the picture is just random garbage

the little sea strip is incorrectly labeled as land, but there is no pokemon encounter data, so it takes the last one
thing is, when you talk to the dude in town it uses the regular pokemon battle routines, so they have to back up the name somewhere...
right, in the pokemon encounter data

i caught a bunch of lvl <200 alakazam in there
