New desktop motherboard. A Pocket PC will not be very helpful. I bought one once and NEVER found real use for it. It was cool though.
If you get a Pocket PC, make sure it plays MP3s and is also a Cellphone otherwise you will NOT likely use it for long.
If you get a new motherboard, you probably also need a new processor and it is the right time to get memory too being you can get 4 GB (enough) for $20 to $40. For College, you are probably best off with an inexpensive notebook/laptop you plan to use for about three years, but given your choice I would say "motherboard" hands down.

If you do go for a PDA, get an iPod Touch. I loathe all that Apple stands for...yet I love my iPod Touch. Call me a hypocrite, but it's that good! |

Ah, I figured a pocket pc wouldnt be all that great, they just look so cool! xD. Well, I will look into an ipod touch, but mostly becuase I really need a new Ipod. ( I still have an Ipod mini....) As for the cheap-o motherboard I was looking at, here it is: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813138133 I know its not the best, but its all I can afforrd for right now. What do you guys think of it, and do you have any suggestions for a different motherboard that will work just as good. Thanks |

I'll tell you, if you go to a college that has WiFi, having an iPod Touch will change your life! |

It's great because, besides it's very nice user interface and hardware, it has such a large fanbase and dev-base, so there are tons and tons of apps available for it. You can even develop for it yourself, if you feel like learning the OSX api! |
