Many TI-83+ BASIC programs can run on a TI-83. (Assembly programs cannot, and BASIC programs that use newer tokens cannot.) The link protocol, however, is slightly different, so you need to use a link program that supports the TI-83, such as TiLP or the TI-83 version of Graph Link.

Only TI-83 BASIC works in the Ti-83 Plus. The asm defines are a bit different and the program header is really different.

To send/receive things to a computer you just need to put the calculator on and in the home screen. No need for doing that, I think. (at least in a Ti-83 and 84)

Thank you
no wonder the problems
do the other programs work with the ti graph link cable (black for windows)
also does someone know how to correct the lack of compatibility issue with Win XP
I have to remove the ti graph link program and restore to an earlier date to correct it
and sometimes use revo uninstaller (good program by the way and free)
is there a better way ??
What is a good way to check the serial port ??
thank you

I think TiLP works with the BlackLink on Windows XP, but I've never tried it myself. There's lots of other software that would supposedly do what you want; the trouble is that most of those programs probably control the serial port directly, which (as I recall) can't be done on Windows XP without some special black magic.
