I read somewhere that Houdini could hold his breath for five minutes.

If I could do that I'd just dive down to the bottom of the swimming pool and stay there to scare people. Hehe...

Yes he was but his holding his breath wasn't an illusion. he had to hold it for some of the thriks he did.
as I google it quickly and see 17 minute times... Shock

Today I had only one class because there was a trip by students and teachers and so we had class with other teachers and classes.

I and some friends talked about swimming and since I had nothing to do, guess what: I hold my breath by 2m and 15 seconds =D

It depends on the dynamics and range of the piece. I can keep up a Mezzo-Forte for quite some time if it's not too high.
