How long can you hold your breath for?

My current record 2 minutes 30 seconds.
I know there are people out there that can beat me though.

Admit it this question will nag you for a while...

I have reached 2 minutes and 15 seconds before. I used to be a swimmer and we would have contests to see who could stay under water the longest.

One and a half minute is my best.

And how many meters you can swim under the surface?
I make 25 meters but the swimming pool is 25 meters long and going back is kind of cheating... But I have few breath left when I do this, though.

Well between your last post and this post; I'd say somewhere in the area of 3 hours.

Actually oxygen is a poison (in large quantities) and is very oxidative. So not good for us. Razz Still we need it.

When I do 25 meters under water I get one spasm (not spencer's assembler ; lol) in the 20 meters or so. It is quite terrific but after that, you seem more calm... But your heart isn't that calm. Razz

Some swimmers by counting the number of spasms know when they need to breath. Curious xD
