I'm required to do a project in pre-calculus, which I think is just terrible, but anyway...
I need to draw a graph a picture, using piecewise functions, that makes something cool.
I briefly considered a fractal, because it'd be amazing, but pretty difficult using piecewise functions.
I'd like ideas on a good picture, preferably math related. I was thinking something along the lines of a Dark Knight parody, "Why so continuous?", but that'd be a bit cheesy. It would need to be fairly easy to draw.
As for my motivation, a) I want a good mark and b) I'm fairly confident that everyone's just going to do their name or something stupid like that, so something that is a bit unique would be nice for me to do.
Oh, and the new interface is nice, if a bit gradient happy. Now I just need to figure it out... |

How about doing a general sketch first of what you want to come up with, and then worry about the curve pieces to use later? ;)

Well that's what I'm planning on doing, but I need a general idea of what I want to do first, which is why I posted. I'm not looking for how to do it, I can sketch it on my own. I need an idea, just something to draw first. I'm not exactly artistic, and I was hoping someone would have an idea of something to draw. Then, if I like the idea, I'll draw it on some graph paper and figure it out exactly. |

Is this drawing gonna be on paper, on the calc, or any kind of math/graphing software? Or all of the above? |

Paper, I need to label sections and other stuff (provide equation, etc.). If I feel like it, I might put it on the calc, but as it's a complex piecewise function, it would take a long time. It's odd, because the teacher said that it would be a "calculator-related" project, and I was fairly pleased, as I would (hopefully) do fairly well at that. This is not my idea of "calculator-related", unless you count using the calculator in a typical fashion in order to find the correct equation. |
