Some of my favorite ska and punk bands (including We Are The Union, Public Access, Stuck Lucky and Fatter Than Albert) share there music on http://www.communityrecords.org/

Well, yeah... but the purpose of this thread is not to promote stealing. The purpose of this thread is to promote the music of artists who distribute there own music for free.

On a slightly related note, let's not get into a war over what is and isn't stealing. I'd hate to see this thread become that...

You know, I may release some recordings of my trumpet, if I ever find a high enough quality recording device so that I don't sound like crap while listing to the play back.

I guess I could post this. Here is my bands demo. I actually just started doing a complete mix overhall on it (as a lot of the mix job is really poorly done) but the songs are good Very Happy.

Magnatune and Jamendo both offer CC-licensed music, and you can pay to support artists if you like what you hear.

Well, one of my favorite sites ever for free, legal music is Newgrounds. Most people think Newgrounds is only a Flash movie/game website, but it also boasts a pretty extensive library of user-created music (some of which are top-quality).

Nine Inch Nails are offering The Slip and Ghosts I for free download.
David MeShow has a free album on his site.
Epinikion had a free album too, but their site seems to be down at the moment (their MySpace page is still available).

If existed a good site for free trash or speed metal where you could find good musics (even with some work but not excessive) would be awesome. =D

Jamendo is excellent.

I'm also a big fan of streaming from Last.fm.

They did? Sorry...

Quote Unquote Records offers all (or most) of it's bands music for free. I particularly enjoy Bomb The Music Industry and The Arrogant Sons Of Bitches.

Lots of free music of all kinds at your fingertips if you are not afraid of the Finnishness of the website (they do use the word ‘download’ though, maybe to make foreigners’ lives easier Wink):

Community Records is having it's second free download day in about a week. This one, honestly, doesn't look as good as the last one however it does include one of my favorite bands The Flaming Tsunamis as well as a split CD with Stuck Lucky.

Note that you can always download free music off the site, but on free download day more music is added.

The Newgrounds Audio Portal. That's where I get all my techno (though there are other genres there). The quality of music is rather hit-and-miss, but once you find a few artists you like it's great. You can see some of my favorites here (scroll down).
