Hi:

I have brand-new TI-89 Titanium. I downloaded some apps from http://www.ticalc.org/ to use, and am at a total loss to what I'm doing wrong.

I transferred them to the calculator via the Connect software. When I hit 2nd Var-Link, I can see them there. When I hit home screen, and enter the program name and parenthesis (ie, periodic() ) I get the name outputted back to me: nothing else.

Some questions:
1. How can I get the programs to run?
2. Is there a way to install them onto the app page, so that they're sitting there, rather than running them off the home screen?
3. If I use the TI Connect software, and go the device explorer, I can see the folders on the calc, so it looks like they're really on the calc. (Clearly, not a question.) They are basic, func, and asm programs, so they should run, right?
4. Do you know of a super-basic tutorial to help me better understand what I may be doing wrong?
5. Do I need to get them out of archive (I noticed on the connect software some of them were going to archive)? How do I do this? Where do they go?

As I just got the calc, and have never used one before, I have very little facility with it, so please keep it simple.

Thanks so much,
C

Woo! Got that. I am an idiot. Still wondering about: can I put them on the app page?

Also, I have some programs that I can't transfer. When I right-click on them, I don't get a "send to TI" option. They are .p file types. Can I change the file extension to transfer them?

Well, I've never used TI Connect or much 83+ for that matter. But in TILP, usually forget to change the "calc type" setting from its default. Also, I start getting timeouts when my batteries are low. Hey, I'm just bumping this until we can get an expert here.

No those files aren't meant to be sent to your calc, there should be a readme with the files you downloaded telling you which files to send to your calc and how to run them. also in teh Send to window you can set them to send to archive and that is what is considered an app page, but IDK the specifics on the 89 and other 86k calcs.
