| well wireless link between calculators seems possible it would even be cool to make it hooked up to my computer so i can run some basic commands on my computer so anyone know how to make a WAN on a calculator |

| It is possible (HP calcs have the hardware built in for it). You'd have to rig up some IR thingies to your linkport and make a protocol for it. Read some more at Michael Vincent's page http://www.michaelv.org and go to his projects page. |

| Can you just connect the reciever and diode to the same wires? I thought that would short the circuit, so I don't know how to do it. (at least recieving. power from the calculator shouldn't affect the reciever while sending, but when recieving, power from the reciever could short through the diode, preventing the calculator from registering and sending feedback to the other calcs.) |

I have no idea.  Aren't there two wires in the cable, one for transmitting, the other for receiving?
But a TI calculator with IR abilities would be awesome. I used to have an HP, and I rigged it up so I could use it as a TV remote. |

Three wires. sending and recieving both use the same wires.

Actually, there are two wires red and white. The signal is sent relative to ground (another wire but around the red and white).
I do not remember exactly how it works, but when either calculator brings a wire low, it cannot go hi until released by the calculator that brings it low; I think.
I guess, one calculator brings one of the wires low, and then the other calculator sets the other wire low if applicable. Finally, the other wire is released and a bit is read.
I am a little confused, so I will re-read the link stuff. |
