Hi, im new here but perhaps you could help me with a seemingly impossible problem i've had.

So ive had this calculator (ti-83+) for 4 years now and up till now it was great. So i turned it on the first time in months and i noticed something was wrong with 1 line of vertical pixels - they're gone! And over the next few days more and more lines of vertical pixels kept dissapearing - now i have around 4-5 missing lines across the screen and its awful annoying since it blocks out some of the answers.

so basically, what can i do? is there a screen reset or something?

Thanks!

I've asked many people and no one knows exactly what's wrong. Additional details i could add is that I did have some white gunk form inside the battery compartment, but i cleaned that up yesterday...took the whole calc apart and cleaned everything

still have same problem

so any comments please post!
thanks in advance!

White gunk inside the battery compartment is probably a battery acid leak. Not good, but it still powers on, so I guess it's okay.

When LCDs die, they tend to do that. I would double-check the ribbon cable attached to the LCD to see if you damaged it, or somehow it's not right. That can cause columns to go wonky. I have an old 81 like that.

Aside from that, there's not much that can be done.
