That's right, a Pokemon game for the Black Edition. It is going to be almost completely in Basic.
Features:
-75 Pokemon
-a variety of moves
-5 files on each calculator
-archived sprite sheets using extra pic vars
-password protected files (done but not available yet)
-link battles and trades, also between files on one calculator
-possible Stadium expansion in the future
-save data stored safely in archive
-anti-hacking system
-mystery gifts (for those of you who know me well)
-encrypted save data (maybe)
Progress:
-stat database done
-Pokedex list and interface completed
-name database improved in both speed and size
-significant progress on world engine and menus
-working save feature

Interesting. Are you basing this off of any of the games, or are you coming up with something entirely new? |

This will be based off of Pokemon Red and Blue. And no, there will not be a Pokemon White (that was one of the names I decided from).
I recently decided to start over on most of this project. There were a few reasons:
-letter variables used in too many places
-save data used wrong
-basically nothing on the graph screen
For those of you who want to see what I did, you can download the version that I am abandoning now. |

Heh, I think I have restarted my pokemon project 3 times now. But at this point, it has a scrolling map on ascii, and all sorts of other cool things. Good luck. :)
Edit:
Also, try to name your programs so pokemon stays at the beginning of the list, makes it nicer on the users that way.
After playing the file, putting passwords on it? That seems redundant, and a waste of space. I am not sure if you realize the vastness of this game... :S

The password system is there because there could be 5 different people playing it on the same calculator. Obviously, you wouldn't want your siblings going in and stealing all your Pokemon when you're asleep. |

hmmm... wouldn't it be easier to have them play on their own calc, and use the link cable for transfers? |

yeah, that is what I am doing, but then, I am going all out in my version, to make it as close to the original as possible. By the time this nears completion, I doubt I will have the room to have stuff like that, or multiple players on the same calc. |

agreed, iirc, the even the original had to be compressed and it was on a bigger piece of memory. |

I'm hoping that this game won't have memory issues like that. It won't have a real world map, which should make the game a lot smaller, and there will only be 75 Pokemon.
Also, where are you guys getting your link cables? According to Ti, they do not exist but you should have one anyway.

Well, we either get the calc to calc link cables with the calcs, or we have gotten the calc to pc link cables from retail stores, such as staples or walmart. |

The calc-calc and calc-pc (silverlink) came with my 83+SE If I'm not mistaken, you can use any male-male cable of the right size (earphone jack size, i believe), or make your own with parts from radio shack. |

IIRC, the earphone jackplug is 3.5 mm and the 83+family uses 2.5 mm jackplug.
if you have a 84+(SE), I think any usb-mini usb cable would work for calc-com. I'm using the one that came with my mp3 player . |

i wonder if converters from radioshack at both ends would work too. |

converters should work as far as I know, standard sizes in inches are 1/8 in. for a headphone jack and 3/32 in. for the size ti calculators (and many cellphones) use. |

Okay, I think that's enough discussion about homemade cables. I just added a few screenshots on the first post. They are the battle screen, input screen, Pokemon screen, and Pokedex. |

Ok, some thoughts.
The screenshots look nice. How do you plan on storing/displaying the pokemon names in the pokedex? I made an attempt at something like you have, but ended up not being able to do that. :/ I do need to see about working on mine a bit more, see if I can't speed it up some more..
But, anyways, good luck implementing all that stuff. |
