Yesterday I was running an App called Casino, and it seemed to be working fine until it began shutting down (at my command) and failed. Now, my calc displays the Insert-style cursor (no blinking), several "&8"s, and two black rectangles the size of the normal cursor. It responds to no keypresses, except for ON while off. I have pulled a battery and replaced it, turned it back on, and presto--it's still bricked.

The problem is that I have several programs on there (all archived in groups) that I need by friday or I won't get paid (I program for $$/skittles.)

Halp!

EDIT: Grammar.

Your calculator is not "bricked"...if you have everything archived, then pull out all the batteries, press ON several times, put all the batteries back in, and then press ON again.

Or, you could pull out a battery, hold DEL, re-insert the battery, press ON, then release DEL.

Both of those reset RAM, but if you have what you need archived, then they'll still be there.

Try pulling all five batteries (including the coin battery behind the screw. If that doesn't help, before you put the last battery back in, hold down [Clear] and after you put the battery in, press [On]. If that doesn't help, try pulling all five batteries and leaving it for up to 24 hours. None of those should damage flash archive. Hope it helps!

Actually, if I remember right, ON+CLEAR would prevent the OS from rebuilding the VAT for archived variables, which is the one thing he doesn't want.

The same thing actually happened to me. All that I did was leave all five of my batteries out for twelve hours, and it was fine after that. That could just be my wierd calculator, though, so I would try using the DEL+ON thing and loading a new OS before the CLEAR+ON.

Actually, it (the app) works fine now. It might have had something to do with my batteries. Since I lack a cover, one might have just pulled itself during the shutdown.

Or it might have been the car battery. Just kidding, that didn't happen. Smile
