I'm trying to restore the original operating system to my TI-83+ after installing CSX, and, when I try to send the operating system via TiLP2 on Linux (this is after running the link command on the TI, of course), the TI will immediately display an exception ("Transmission Error"). Below is a copy of the exception:

Code:
Receiving...
EX02-Transmission Error
AF  06BB  BC  0106  DE  000A
HL  0E53  IX  0600  IY  81E0
PC  0C81  SP  FFFE  I   00
Stack Dump:
0B48

The version of CSX reported by 'info' is:

Code:
CSX 0.273 beta
Date:
  08-27-2004

I need to use my TI for a test tomorrow and really need the original OS back in it. Help, please?

Welcome to United-TI!

[quote name='CSX FAQ – http://www.unitedti.org/index.php?showtopic=2347']Q. How do I uninstall CSX and get TIOS back?

A. You will first need to download an OS file. Then, remove one battery from the calculator. Reinsert the battery while holding down the DEL key. The calculator screen should say that it is waiting for software. Launch the program you use to link the calc to the computer, and use it to send the OS you downloaded earlier. Wait (a long while) for the transfer to complete.[/quote]

Thanks. However, when I am transferring in pre-OS mode, it transfers a random amount then the calculator errors and asks me to restart. What is wrong?

These two posts (1|2) come to mind, which basically say:

  1. Get to the part where it sends, but be fully aware that you have to...
  2. ...turn off the calculator immediately.
  3. Turn it on again.
  4. Restart the transfer.
  5. Repeat all the above steps as necessary.
Good luck.

I've restarted the transfer several times to no avail. One time it got to 91% before crashing. Sometimes it doesn't even show the progress meter.

How long did you wait before restarting? I think you should probably cancel it as soon as it starts, if I'm reading the aforementioned posts correctly. Also according to those, it might be best to use TI OS Downloader from the TI Connect package. That's only made for Windows, but it might be made available through VMWare or something similar (coming from someone who hasn't used Linux to date).

I waited about 30 seconds. Now, when I try to transfer, it immediately errors. Could it be my transfer port?

Installing a Windows VM on my Linux machine (the only machines that I have with serial ports run Linux) is not an option, as it would take too long...

Turn off the calculator as soon as you enable the transfer to start! There should be zero wait. Please read the posts I linked you to if you aren't understanding this.
