My friend's calc is broken (again). But this time, it's really weird. First, his screen was all black. I thought, oh, just a contrast problem. The constrast buttons did not effect the screen at all. I pulled a battery. Nada. I then did the hold delete while removing battery and hoped for the reinstall OS screen. When it was turned back on, the screen was now clear, like it was on, but no cursor was blinking. It still is broken.

What do you think happened?

I have seen this before actually. I don't know what caused it, but a full reset worked. Why don't you just leave it out overnight (without batteries), unless there is something important on it.
Edit: It was on my friends calculator--his dad was cheap and bought a used one at a garage sale for $10 Very Happy

Joostin, thanks. I'll have him try that.

@TheStorm, I can't see anything on the screen, so running programs is impossible (not even sure if anything is going on)

it is an app that installs a getcsc hook that resends the contrast to the screen every thime it is run. I know that sounds pointless but it allows the crap calc I got free from school to work and if your calc has the same issue it might help. You said that ajusting the contrast didn't work so most likely you have I different issue than I did but it might be worth a try.

Just to throw this in, you can use the silent link protocol to remotely transfer (and overwrite if it exists) a program and execute it, all in one step. As long as it boots, you don't have to see it to use it.
