| Okay so I was trying to learn how AppVars work (on my TI-84+ SE), but instead ended up with a crashed calculator. Now, when I turn it on, it displays random stuff and then turns off immediately. I've tried taking out all the batteries and the back-up cylinder battery as well, but when I put them back in after awhile, they behave basically the same way. It seems that I will have to get a new calculator, since I am completely out of ideas on what to do to. Does anybody know anything else that could or might work? |

Yeah, but for reinstalling the OS, I would need to be able to turn my calculator on and keep it on?

| How long are you leaving the batteries out? You need to leave them out overnight to get a complete reset. |

Pull a battery and press and hold delete for a good long time (30 seconds min) While still holding delete reinsert the battery and press on. It should ask you to send OS. Turn it off. And back on. If it still's asking for an OS, send it, otherwise it should be fixed.
I would suggest debugging in an emulator to prevent this kind of thing. |

| Also, try pressing Clear instead of delete if it doesn't work. Delete and Stat didn't work for me, but Clear did. |

| Have you tried sending an OS? (People seem to find sending from another calc works easier, but you can use a computer if you can't) |

um, yes, I have tried to send an OS, but I couldn't figure out how, hence I was asking.
anyway, I DID eventually figure out how to send an OS, but my calculator is still behaving the same way  |

In the meantime, I suggest your emu of choice should be wabbitemu
Don't ask for ROMs. Since you can't really rom dump your calc, I suggest you search the forums for alternative methods...
I hope you get your calculator fixed |

| Eh, try drop-kicking it. That usually works for me when technology is malfunctioning. Honestly, you could try re-sending os again. If that doesnt work, leave it sitting with all batteries out (including backup battery) for a day and then check it. If it still doesnt work remove batteries and let it sit some more. If it is STILL dead you may have killed it. When you are experimenting with something you dont understand or just testing an asm program you have written this is why it is best to use an emulator. Anyways, best of luck. I really hope you dont have to spend the money to replace it. |

well okay, I decided my calculator was completely dead, so I went and got a new one. (Honestly, I don't really mind, since my other calculator had an annoying ugly column of broken pixels.)
Anyway, to prevent this from happening again, I plan on using an emulator, but I can't figure out how to use them. I've tried wabbitemu and Virtual TI. Both of them, after seeming to load my ROM file without any problems, just make a calculator appear. I can't do anything with it... I've tried clicking buttons on it, hitting buttons on my keyboard, etc. Any help?

| Well, Are you sure your ROM file is valid? Also, Right click on WabbitEmu and go down to reset calculator. This might help. |

| Yeah, I think the problem must be in the ROM file. I used this thing called "rom8x" to get my ROM. I downloaded two dumper programs to my calculator, uploaded the appvars they outputted, and merged them together with rom8x.exe using the newest OS, TI84Plus_OS.8xu. |
