Are you sure that you are not clicking on the installation file, instead of the shortcut to the program? That would explain why it keeps (un)installing every time you try to open it.

Try uninstalling the software, uninstall the driver. Download again from the TI Website. Worst case, I will PM you a link for the software that came on the CD.

That's what I meant when I said I uninstalled it and installed it again. Still won't work.

Quite sure. The shortcut on the desktop links to the installation file. In the folder where I installed it, there is no program, just the installation file. Same on the start menu. Shortcut links to installation.

and on the new nspire connection thing, I keep getting the following message:

Msg: failed to open the USB device.
Cause: Check that the USB cable is plugged in and that the calculator is turned ON! Also, check libusb and usbfs for valid permissions.
System: (2089878321) The handle is invalid.

I meant computer Confused

Are you admin?

If you have Vista, drivers may not be installed correctly.... Try installing with UAC disabled and with admin account.

Might try upgrading to SP2. What category is your driver under in the control panel?

That is your problem. It should be under something like Universal Serial Bus controlers... Uninstall it, and remove the driver (it should be a checkbox).

Now I don't see it at all. The Direct link won't even work with my 84+ SE (nspire and regular 84+)

yeah. The little bubble even popped up saying "Found new hardware". Then the window comes up asking me if I want to automatically install it. I click, yes, but it finishes and says that the hardware was not installed correctly.

Sorry for reviving this ancient topic, but I had returned my Nspire to the store. It cost me $180 so I was completely broke. I got another one off ebay for half the price (new, unopened). This one came with a CD. I put the CD in, and uninstalled the old program, and the driver for the Nspire. I then installed the software again. But it still won't work. The readme isn't very helpful, so here's what I did (after uninstalling everything):

1. Installed the Nspire Link software.
2. Plugged in the Nspire.
3. Installed the driver.
4. Opened up the Nspire Link software.
5. Cursed the computer and TI because it still won't work.

Pugboy, what exactly did you do to get it to work?

I installed the software before plugging in the calculator, then let the software do its thing...

I did nothing different.

What was the name of the driver?

Just TI Nspire. It is now under USB controllers, not Disk Drives.
