Can I use the USB cord for transferring files between the nSpire in 84+ mode and the computer? Looking at the page that pops up when I load up the CD, it says I need a silverlink. Is this true?

I suggest you try it, (I guess) it can't do any harm anyway. (Yes, I refuse to believe that TI intentionally left that out, I rather believe that Brandon is mistaking.)

What are you people trying to say? It used to be that only the Silverlink worked with the Nspire's emulated 84+SE, but now both the Directlink and the Silverlink work. The documentation that pugboy is reading is outdated.

I upgraded to the latest OS, and TI Connect doesn't detect the "84". It just shows COM3 being empty.

It still doesn't work... Where is the "new" documentation?

What linking software are you using? Try TI-Connect if TiLP doesen't work, or vice versa.

TI Connect doesn't work, but I don't want to have to install new drivers to get TiLP to work... I guess I will have to use my 84+ to transfer to my nSpire...

So the USB from real 84+ to emulated 84+ works?

No, for some reason, and IO calc to calc came with the nSpire. It wasn't on the "Included" list...

I meant that emulated 84+SE USB on the Nspire is supposed to work now, but they're still working on it, so I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't.

It works for me, though. At least I'm pretty sure.

This is a little off topic, but I didn't want to start a new topic for a simple question. I've been thinking about getting an N-spire, but I don't know how much it costs. Everyone I ask has given me some number between $130 and $250. That's a pretty big price range, so I was wondering how much it really does cost. I assume pugboy knows, unless he got his N-spire as a gift.

Around $130. $250 is way too much.

I know you didn't ask for it, but my personal opinion is to wait unless you plan on tinkering with or hacking it. It's not much of a calculator at the moment.

Yes, they rushed to get the hardware out in people's hands before properly writing the OS, so while it's a nice piece of technology (for a graphing calculator), there's no useful OS to make it do anything, except excessive restrictions designed to keep us out.

Does pugboy have the latest version of the nSpire's OS? The latest version was released at the end of August.

Yeah, can't you just download later versions of the OS when they come out? You can with the 83+.
Wikipedia
also says that the new version was released august 30, 2007, so I might be safe.
