So since around 10am this morning, I've been unable to access Cemetech, and apparently everyone else is similarly unable to connect. Members reported spotty outages yesterday, but I was unable to replicate said problems. This evening, I googled Jatol, my webhost, and found this slashdot article:

http://slashdot.org/articles/07/09/11/0038207.shtml

So yeah, my last backup is from June 26th due to my laptop crashing a month ago, and I'm basically screwed. I'm watching this topic on Web Hosting Talk to see what happens. More news as I get it.

http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?p=4689854

Edit: to confirm what I'm talking about being lost: I would lose all posts, news, and members since June 26th, not other site content, because I have the site code backed up separately in a mirror on my current computer.

No. OTBP is still up, I think calc84 uses FreeHostia.

I just can't log in for some reason. I get an "HTTP 500 Internal Server Error"
Edit: I'm talking about OTBP

OK, so here's the plan of attack currently:

1) I have a relatively complete file backup, so that's fine
2) I have database backups from June 26th, so that's a problem
3) Get updated database backups if possible
4) Find somewhere to host Cemetech for a long-term solution if Jatol isn't coming back.

Wierd. I can get into the main page, but it gives me an error when I try to log in. Maybe it has something to do with tiSAX?

darn this sucks very much, I came back from halo 2 to check ti forums, then i type in cemetech and it wont load, then later still nothing, and now I notice this topic, I am very saddened by this, I hope this si just a downtime or something like that, because i would hate to see cemetech rolled back to such period of time. But if it does i guess we have no choice then Sad, but I am deeply sorry to hear :(

If in any case jatol come back with no backups, I would find a different hosting. Did you considered UTI hosting, since you are UTI member? Idk if PHPBB works with PHPBB 4.0 in safe mode though, which UTI still uses

jfabi82 I think TIsax was hosted on cemetech, which is why you may have trouble with OTBP. I can get to otbp fine though, but the sax isnt showing anymore, but I don't have an account here (yet) so i can't test sax after logging in

Well that really sucks.

That makes me glad I host my website on my own server and don't have to worry 'bout stuff like that.

I have plenty of servers I could use to host, but no good internet provider to connect it to. :(

Anyway, I've started to look at new hosts; here's some I found so far with good ratings on review sites:

http://www.nixism.com/shared/personal/

1and1.com has been really good to me thus far...

And you could think of this as a fresh begining Kerm. Get your templates all made and such, do some of the other things you wanted to get done...

Kerm is currently trying to set up http://www.cemetech.net to this old board, so people can post again until Kerm find a good host again.

1&1 looks good except for one single thing: it looks like DB size is limited to 100mb, which is a problem for the forum. If that can be worked around, I might go with them.

Doesn't Google keep a recent cache of all pages? It has one for September 10.
