My 83+ has recently has been having contrast problems. The contrast will fluctuate, and usually even the highest contrast level is dim. I took it apart, and nothing was apparently wrong with the LCD or the LCD board. I did notice that two gold contacts on the circuit board were badly scratched. These were the contacts where the wires from the main batteries brought power to the rest of the calculator. I think that the scratches are causing the LCD to be low on power. Is there some sort of liquid that I can drop on the contacts to fill the scratches, or is there some other fix?

OK, I know this is a fix for scratched CD's, but perhaps, with luck, it will work here too. Try swabbing it with a Q-Tip with toothpaste on it.

No guarantees, just throwing out ideas.

Do you have any friends that can put a drop of solder on it for you? I don't think toothpaste is going to cut it.
