Ok, so I have been using Ubuntu Edgy Eft for about 4 months, and decided to update to Feisty Fawn. Well, I had ndiswrapper running my wireless drivers (easier to configure then the native drivers), and it has been working for a long time. When I did the update, I could no longer connect to my WPA2 network. I reinstalled Feisty, tried the native, no WPA, went to ndiswrapper, recognizes the WPA, but doesn't want to connect, any ideas?

I've never had a problem with WPA2 and ndiswrapper, but if I'm reading this correctly you went from WPA to no WPA? Look at the configuration and make sure it is correct. If it recoginizes your network, ndiswrapper is working fine, but it sounds like you may need to reconfigure your settings. Good luck.

Edit: Also if you use something like kwallet (if you run KDE) it stores your passwords and other stuff, for connecting automatically so you might want to delete that configuration file and make a new profile.

first of all, unless there is a default config in the way, there is nothing like that (as in a fresh install, still does the same thing).

As for does not connect, network manager just sits there like it is trying to do something, then it fails as connecting to the network. If I have my crossover cable connected, then it will fall back to the ethernet.

Don't you have messages coming back in the terminal or log files that indicate why it's failing?

I don't know which log file I would need to do. As for messages, I don't use the terminal for connection, I use the GUI.

Try using the terminal so you can get feedback from the program drivers etc.

I don't mean to sound like an a, but I don't think Arcane wants to baby you through this process. Like any Linux user you need to research this for yourself. A lot of linux is figuring things out for yourself and lots of research. Read the ndiswrapper documentation, it will tell you what commands you need to type to find out information. Personally I would recommend a Linux forum, Ubuntu's forums in this case as they will be a much greater help. As for you WPA2 problem, many people using the same version of Ubuntu as you have been able to get it to work. Have you tried unistalling and reinstalling ndiswrapper? To be honest, I know this has to be a configuration error, because there's no way you would be able to see wireless networks if ndiswrapper didn't work. Can you post a pic of your configuration setttings?

Linksys WMP-54G v4 (and yes, I know there is an rt2500 driver for it, but that was more of a pain to get going with WPA (I never got it to work)).

I'm having similar problems in Feisty with my Linksys WUSB54GC USB stick. The light blinks and I can view my wireless networks, but cannot connect to them, even after removing WEP or any sort of protection.

Card: Linksys #[WMP54G v4.1], 54mbps -- [link here|List#WMP54G v4.1]

* Chipset: Ralink RT61
* pciid: 1814:0301 and 1814:0302
* Driver: Don't use driver that ships with card, it didnt work with ndiswrapper. Use the close source driver from Ralink http://www.ralinktech.com. It compiles for 2.4 and 2.6 kernels.
* Other: The rt2x00 Open Source Project (http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com) have now a driver - but realy beta.
* Other: The Ralink driver works great. It is not a plug and play, you need your kernel headers, the appropiate gcc (3.4) but when you can link it together and put it where it loads at startup, it works great. I am using WPA without any problem.
I'm guessig you followed these instructions? (specfically the bolded part)
