Then it sounds like people just want to stick with the old banner.... nevertheless, I'll see what I can do.

No, it's just that the new one that you proposed just seems a little bit too...modern, I guess one could say. Maybe you could still retain the modern look, but try to implement some of the old look to...? Yours looks good, but it just seems that it could be better.

If you want to introduce an improvement, you're going to have to be able to back up how it is one, imho.

Before this gets too far, know that the one to better has been over at the beta site! Wink

It's just the same one with a new border and a radial gradiant overlay on the calc's LCD...

You're going to have to better the resulting image though, not the effect used to create it.

Everyone? I don't remember giving my opinion.

Also, 10 eBucks says everyone will be bored of any new banner soon enough as well, and then the one after that, and that, etc.

Indeed. By "everyone" I meant "everyone in that self-selecting poll".

Do you have anything without a white overlay layer covering half the image? I'd like to see that.

I think the calc and it's screen&buttons needs the same kind of dark-light edge as the text. And the same gradient fill.

Arcane is right. The calc is so boring (right now).

Maybe you should stick a pic of The Ultimate Calculator in there :ninja:

It's too generic compared to the current banner. Substitute the words "United TI" with "Detatched Solutions" or "Calc Haven" and you'd easily double the banner for them or any other calc site. There's nothing uniquely "UTI" about it.

Clean up the edge, decrease the detail inside the calc, lighten it slgihtly, and I think that's pretty cool.

edit: minus the overlay

Nice! Looks cool, even in a blue-monochrome.

Is there any way to soften the gradient a little, so it doesn't look so harshly sudden?

I really think the white overlay half makes it overly crowded without actually adding anything. It's like halfing the amount of available uncrowded space for the eye.
