Luby He gave us Linerider 84. That's pretty good. Searching through his posts, though—and that "Describe The Poster Above You" thread hasn't made this any less difficult—I'm not seeing much in the way of information being conveyed as I would like to; much of his contributing has been in the form of random musings. Although, considering that, we did give a promotion to programmer_to_be for essentially the same behavior. I'm not against Luby's UTI Membership, but I'm just not 100% certain when I would rather be. Your thoughts, please?

I'm sort of on the fence here. Looking at the post history, I see nothing glaringly wrong. Almost 2/3 of his posts are 1-liners though. the missing caps come across as a little n00bish sometimes. On the other hand, Linerider stands out. Only 1 multi-post I can find readily. And he's answered help requests in TI-Basic.
I'm also not against membership. It sort of feels like I'd be voting 'yes' just because it was asked for. Undecided.

Perhaps we tell him for now that he's being considered. Then focus on getting 1-2 of the members that have been with us longer, and contributed far more. I suspect this path will give us a little more effort on his behalf doing what we really want before giving away the UTI Member status.
Please discuss.

I don't have free time to think about this in depth, but overall I think he is a good candidate for UTI membership.

Sorry, I must have missed it the first time.
So basically, luby had access to the secret project forum, and the only way of giving it to him, short of putting him in a new member group, was to override his permissions with a new permissions mask. This worked out fine when he was a Member, but when he became a UTI member, the permissions mask overrode his UTI member permissions.
Solution: add the UTI members mask to the override list. It's kind of ugly, but it works.
Everything should be working fine now. |
