I made this post for everyone to think of every single type of memory storage device so later we would be able to figure out which one would be best suited for a memory expander for the calculator.

I was thinking back to my days of n64 and remembered that the controller has a 3 wire connection and it can handle a memory card. mabye there is some way we could adapt that.
I may be wrong but I think I remember it being 5volt signal.

how it worked:
wire 1: +5v
wire 2:GND
wire3: communication via DTMF signals or similar (DTMF are similar to phone pitches when you push a button)

not 100%, but like 99.999999999999%

what i am wondering is could we use a n64 controller to interfase with a n64 memory card. of course it would probably need to be in real time but it would probably work if we could figure out all the specifics.

yeah, and we could use the whole controller! the joystick/d-pad = 8 way scrolling, A = enter, B = 21, etc.!

the jostick could even be used as a mouse!!!
we may not even need any hardware besides the extra power needed to run the controller. we could probably just use something like a op amp chip or something.
everything else would just be controlled with a driver making it much easier to make.
g2g sleep see ya tommorow at around 4:00pm

I will try to find the actual signals the controller sends on the web.
I hope that I can find them so I don't have to dust off the old multimeter... 😄

I found the signals for everything but the memory card and about 12 groups have tryed to make an interface for it and failed and I am beginning to think this wasn't a good idea. we could still do it but I really don't think that the calculator can recieve info at a bit every 1 µs. (that is really really fast compared to calculators speed).

I guess we will have to look for alternatives unless we could biuld a mod to slow down the controller i don't see how it would work.

it seemed like such a good idea only yesterday...
