Because its pretty much cooler if you dont see the WLAN-Module.You can send Messages etc. and nobody can see that your calc is modified.

Im not trying to persuade you from completing your project but I have 3 reasons why you should NOT build this internally:

extremely difficult/imposible-
its quite possible that you couldnt make the module small enough to even fit in the calc. TI didnt design their calcs with mods in mind. but even if you could fit it, you have to open it, modify the case, solder all the connections, and close it all back up with out damaging anything. Soldering SMT components is a real pain; its hard, precise work. If you happen to accidentally get a little dab of solder on the pins of an IC, its going to suck to be you.

portability-
Anyone who wants to use your idea is going to have to get their calculator modified. Many people arn't going to want to/don't have the ability to do this. It would be much easier if it was external. A linkport cable isnt that big, it wouldn't be noticable.

Ease of building-
The thing you want to worry about last is space. Put your module in a large enclosure, big enough that you can easily work on it. Have it large enough that you can easily fit anything you need with it, batteries, connectors, etc. I'll bet you a large sum of Euros that it won't work the first time you use it, and you will have to fix it. Having plenty of space will come in handy to work on it, and it will keep your module from being damaged by say accidentally pulling a wire out.

Once you get it tested and fully working, then consider how small it can be made and whether it will fit into a v200 or not. But keep in mind what I said about it being portable.

Your first reason isnt right. The module is only 1*2cm big and 5mm high. And everyone who wants to build it outside the calc can do it.
