All of you with forums know how big a pain installing MODs is right?
anyway I was upgrading my forum to phpbb 2.0.19 from 2.0.15, and version 2.0.18 is massive to do manually. I couldn't do it automatically without overwriting all my mods :(
I decided to use Easymod which installs mods automatically without screwing other stuff up, including updates  so I went to install easymod, and discovered that it wont work on UTI hosting because it needs regular ftp access. so I copied all my forum files, and backed up my database to my harddrive and installed phpdev which has all the stuff I needed. the I installed easymod on my computer, upgraded, and then uploaded all the modified files to my website a great shortcut and I saved myself oodles of time :)
just thought Id pass along the info
btw, phpdev comes with Invision :)
if Easymod install has issues on your computer with cookies, then just comment out the authentication section since its on your computer and nobody else is gonna be screwing with it

There's a reason normal ftp isn't enabled on this server, it transmits your username and password in clear text.

I know....and Im glad it isn't enabled. however since it isn't I figured people would enjoy the benefit of easymod without having to switch hosts I posted this. plus phpdev comes with an Invision board. |
