Check out the pic!
An 83 running 89 software? Nope, it's the new Texas Instruments Pseudo 83 for Lazy Calculus Students Whose Professors Have Banned 89s.

It's pretty easy, all I had to do was switch the cases and remove the pins that hold down the rubber thing underneath the keys. I also had to use the 83's arrow buttons because the 89s were cranky for some reason.

I'm lovin' it...

Edit: Oh yeah, does anyone know a keyhook for the 89 that makes the startup or HOME look like the 83's?

actually that might be easy to do, just replace the case, I dont think you could replace a 89t case with a 83+ or a 89 case with a 84+ though. This can give out cool results sometimes

my next project's backlighting an old 83+...

Edit: It's impossible to type with this! The letters are in the wrong place (except for X, Y, Z, and T) and other thing like square root and "s. I'll get used to it, though

once you get used A LOT with your TI-89 you should replace the heys as well since you will probably know by heart where each key are Smile

You can't really. Screen resolutions are different, so you'd need to scale the image, but that would look too obviously bogus, because the ratios are not integers (even the aspect ratios are different).

No, I don't really need it... but it helps.

Hmm.... maybe I could make it just blink like the 83, you know. Just the cursor when you press home, or even a program.

Front lightng is easier and far less evasive. The GBA afterburner fit's PERFECTLY. Ebay still has some. Or you take it of an old GBA SP.
Check out the results.

You know I honestly didn't think the 89 would fit in the 83.

backlighting looks cooler:

Looks like there's less of a glare. Might just be the pic, though.

No it's just the picture. The glare isn't noticable at all in actually use, plus I was able to control the brightness(it was VERY BRIGHT). It just so easy to crack the glass or screw something up with el panel.

You don't need an 89 to pass Calc. I'm doing just fine as a Junior and I'm only using an 84+ silver. Although I still want an 89T.

I know I don't...
I'm taking Calculus II right now, and I passed Calc 1 with an A-. I just wanted to do it because I bought an 89 for calc 2 only to find out that he didn't let us use them. So, for the heck of it, I did this.
I use my 83 silver most of the time in class.
