As the title says, I think we should split the programming sections into a 68k and z80 section (With notes saying which calculators are 68k and which are z80). This would help immensely.

If it's really that much of a problem, we can just ask people to post [z68] or [80k] for specific topic titles. There aren't really enough posts for it to be a problem though.

Yeah, there aren't that many 68k topics, anyways.

I think that either the Basic and Assembly section (probably the latter)should also include C questions for programming on 68k calculators with TIGCC. Right now, the only place for that is "general coding and design".

Huh? Did I do something wrong? I thought they were Zilog 68000 and Motorola 80?

1) There are currently only 3 active topics in the entire assembly forum. (active being a topic with posts made somewhere this month, quite reasonable considering it's the 26th)
2) I've only been able to find a single topic that has anything to do with 68k assembly since january.
3) I don't think we've ever even had a post about actual TIGCC C code.

I'm sorry, but this means that:

A) we barely even need a forum about assembly, let alone one specifically for 68k.
B) we do not need a TIGCC C forum.
C) people can use the subject line to show what a topic is about.
D) this will do untill the need for a specific subforum arises.

I wasn't suggesting a TIGCC forum. I was suggesting modifying the description for the assembly forum to include TIGCC questions should someone feel inclined to ask them.

Ah, I see, is there a significant difference between TIGCC C and ANSI C though?

I don't think this should be applied to the tibasic or assembly forums, but a change to the general coding and design forum may be appropriate to accomodate for TIGCC C and other on-calc programming languages.

TIGCC has grayscale functions and calculator specific stuff, but in general there's no difference.

TIGCC has [font="courier"]void _main(void)
where ANSI C uses [font="courier"]int main(), uses AMS functions, and allows the GCC extensions. I am also not entirely sure that TIGCC is entirely ANSI compliant as far as the standard library is concerned.

It's far more compliant than I expected it to be before downloading it and reading the help files.

Perhaps I should have answered "yes" to your original question. [post="54872"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post] You're the second person to 'correct' me on that. Guess I should go back to using <joke> or <sarcasm>.

I would love to do just that, but we do not currently have enough threads that are active or being posted about 68k to justify this. Once we get more then perhaps we will consider doing this.
