I think we should be able to add something to the address such as nlogin?=1 to be able to view the forum with the new things from the last visit still marked as unread.

If you accidentally close the browser, I think it should be possible to return to the previous "Session" and have the messages all in the same state (read/unread) as you left them.

Maybe the next version of this forum will do that, but you will have to wait until it is released, and even then, the instructions for upgrading may not be for the laymen.

Either way, you are actually supposed to log off!

If you do not log off, your session remains in an SQL table which may cause users to see you displayed in the online box for about 15 minutes.

Still, you are not automatically deleted from the SQL until any request is made about an hour after you close your broser.

Lastly, it really is not a problem because the amount of info is very small and only lasts for a short time.

Then why does it ask if you want to have it so that you don't need to log on every time?

Edit: we need to be able make some of our posts not count towards our total, because some of my posts (especially in general) don't seem to me like they should be counted in the total, although I still think they should be posted.

Provided you do not erase your cookies, and nobody empties the session table or runs clean up from the CP, you will be automatically recognized on your next vist.

It should work perfectly.

"Should" being the key word there.

My browser accepts cookies, yet I still have to log in every time

Yes I have that same confliction. No matter what I always have to re-log in when I come online. My browser is set to accept all cookies as well.

Maybe the remember me only makes your cookie stay for abuut an hour or something. In other words, if you do not select remember me, it is possible that the browser deletes the cookie on close.

Other possibilities.

Perhaps the forum does not recognize you after you disconnect and reconnect becaue you have a different ip address with the same cookie. Maybe it believes it is protecting you from stolen cookies.

although recently even that got disconnected for a short time when a cable was out, but I didn't have to log in. This is too confusing to figure out. Hmm.... maybe if there was a "Away" feature so that without loging out, and therefore having to login again, you could make it not display you as being on the forum

is there a staff one too?  wow, i never thought of that!  thats cool!  for all we know there is a forum for just Jbirk and David Surprised !  scary!

Hidden forums are based upon the read permisson which is based upon user groups.

Anyone in the UTI Members will have access to the same members forums.

There is another forum for Moderators & Admins only.

Finally, there is a Forum called Archive Bin (UTI Staff Only) in which we move any topic we wish to remove instead of deleting it.

I am confused is there a forum for "UTIMembers" and "Moderators & Admins"??? I only see the forum UTI Members but not this Moderators & admins forum even though I am the Moderator of the Calculator Modifications forum. am I supposed to be able to see this forum or am I not supposed to see it. What is going on I am confused.

What Jbirk forgot to tell you is that the Admin/mod forum is visible to admins and global mods. You're just a local mod Confused , that's why it's invisible to you.

what about a forum for local, global, and staff?
And couldn't we have one for everybody who wasn't just a normal member?

There is one for UTI Members, which is pretty much the same as non-ordinary-members.

Does this mean there'll be some changes in the moderation team soon, or just that we don't have any global mods yet?
