We will construct a new website for United TI. This is my probably not-so-complete list of what elements it should contain.

  • 1. Program archive
Will be organized in a hierarchic manner. Each program will have a detailed info page where you can read everything about the program, including screen shots and stats. The first version of the UTI website may also feature download and author stats, but it's a matter of how much time the PHP developers have at their disposal.

  • 2. Projects
Under this section you can read about the progress of our projects, and get some sneak previews of screenshots and beta versions.

  • 3. Links to other calculator sites
A directory of links that pertains to TI-83(x) programming.

  • 4. Articles and tutorials
    Just what it says Smile

  • 5. FAQ
We definitely need this if we don't want to see our forum cluttered with topics like "help! my calculator crashed".

  • 6. Directory of members
From here you can read more about the UTI members, their programming experience, programs created and how to get in touch with them.

  • 7. Frontpage
Should contain three or four news items, links to recently added programs, randomly selected
calculator links and summarized board info (who is online etc).
We are looking forward to hear your opinions about the site.

Great idea. Maybe, you should also make seperae sections for our big programs e.g. NimbusOS. Yu could have there technical info, instructions, how to set programs to work for Nimbus, and anything else needed to be known about the program. Only for major stuff like NimbusOS, Fate By Fire, ect.

How will the archive be indexed? I assume by prog type, but I think it should also be cross indexed indexed author, purpose, language, alphabetically by name, etc. However, depending on the number of progs this would either be very challenging, or there would not be enough to justify this system. Maby if it was searchable instead of indexed

I think that also on the front page, in the board summary section, the most recent post, or 2, or in settings u could choose how many, u could do that with the news items, and how many of days of calculator updates to show, or how many updates to show, like ticalc.org... just a thought!

United-TI will be fully integrated, so if you log into the members section, you will be able to post news et cetera.

Cirrus used to get 1000 pageviews a day on average, not including the web forum. Including the web forum, the pageviews would be doubled (2000).
The average amount of pageviews per visitor is five.

I agree to that NimbusOS and Fate by Fire should have their own sections.

Of course we are sneaking on other sites and look for their solutions. We try to be service minded, and that's why I posted this topic to hear your ideas.

I believe they mean that they should have their own projects section on the website.

If you goto the Detached Solutions website, all there main programs, like MirageOS,Omnicalc,Symbolic ect. have there own section. It would let the creator of the program make updates about the program and any bugs found, fixes, ect.

ya, and if a user found a bug, then they could :
1. post it in a forum (best)
2. e-mail the creater

1 is best cause then it eliminates 2 people reporting the same bug!

No mader what method you use, someone will always report the bug after someone else. Some people won't read the forum every day and might miss the post about the bug,mor some people might just reprt it again anyway Laughing

Without bug reports, we cannot fix problems, so we hope our users report any bugs.

Of course it's a good thing, but getting a hundred emails with the same bug being reported isn't that fun.

Well if they wouldn't make bugs, people wouldn't email them about the bugs. Wink Smile
