I'm working on a rpg but I need ideas for 3 careers.
So far I've got the following careers:
Fighter:
-
Ranger:
× Archer
Rogue:
× Thief
× Assassin
Wizard:
× Forest Mage
× Chaos Mage
There'll be no more than 2 careers for each class (fighter,ranger,rogue,wizard) so all I need is another ranger career and 2 fighter careers.
Oh, and I need to know if Dark Forest is already taken as a title. |

Ok, warrior added, general is too high :lol:
I was thinking of having a woodsman career as the remaining ranger career. A sort of big muscle but with ample knowledge of the forests. |

lumberjack = woodsman pretty much, exept that the woodsman wanders to explore the forests more and thus knows more about herbs, animals, etc.
/add woodsman.
Yeah, knight is good. Warrior is more the wild low armoured axe wielder and the knight would be the noble heavily armoured savior of princesses etc.
I'm thinking of adding a more general career that holds some skills/powers of all careers, but I don't know what to call it:
bard, adventurer or ??? |

how about
swordsman, paladin or monk?
I'm not sure abou the type of fighter you want, but if its the same kind of fighter from final fantasy 1 then I'd go with the swordsman,paladin |

Might as well tell some more about the rpg, It's going to have the following races:
humans
dwarves
wood elves
halflings (hobbits)
Buildings:
homes, (for looting )
Inns/taverns (ale, food, general times)
Smithys (weapons)
Magic Shops (magic items, spells, ingredients?)
Pharmacy (healing, potions)
Random Dungeon Generator:
× Cave
× City
× Forest/Grove
Anybody has any ideas for more buildings?
Oh, and should spells be less easy to cast if you don't have the proper ingredients with you?
Story:
After months of travelling to seek your old master (whoever is teaching you your career) who has gone missing, you enter a great forest. As you travel deeper and deeper into the forest you come to a small town that is under attack by goblins. The only one to stand against these goblins is your master who could use some help. After the raid he asks you to stay at this town until your training is complete. He tells you he had been kidnapped by orcs that wanted him to help in some big raid but he had recently escaped and found this town. During your stay at this small town the number of goblins in the surrounding forest seems to increase and just when your training is complete the town is attacked by goblins and your master, knowing there is more to this than a simple raid (since the goblins and undead work together), sends you to warn the other towns and call on the aid of the wood elves, who are located in the middle of the forest.

Not knowing any asm besides how to show some text and clear the screen might give you a hint or two also. :(
I got a really fast moving "o" program though, but if you move of the screen it messes the screen up and crashes your calc.

Maybe you could use an already made RPG engine. Or make your own.
If you want, since you made some sprites for me, you could have what I've got done for Final Conflict so far if you want it. It doesn't have a battle system or items management or anything of that sort yet, but it is a great move a sprite around engine so far. |

Well, I've got several of my own rpg engines I could use but I feel this one needs a whole engine for itself.
If you want to I'd appreciate it if you could post a simplified and commented version of your engine, if it's faster/better than what I have in mind I might use it, of course props to anyone who helps.
EDIT: I just realised that with the help of wiggins asm sprite routine I might be able to go for a point-and-poke (move around, press 2nd to attack whatever is in front of you, ai tries to do the same to you) battle system. Yoy!

im working on a tilemapping routine with ZSprite (adm. wiggin's sprite prgm) that can tile in less than 5 sec
with this new routine point and poke is a definate possibility

There'll be 1 dragon in the game but I'm not going to tell you how she'll be a part of the story. :lol:
I'm still working on a more detailed story and need to think of a good ending.
Oh, and many thanks Ben.
EDIT: I've had a look at your engine and it looks interesting, but I have decided I'll write a new engine for this rpg so it'll run best (considering it needs to handle collision detection, ai, etc. that are all based on a specific data format of the map and character file)
