*rolls eyes at self.......which is rather hard to do.......finds mirror......commences rolling eyes at self*

Oh and 'Hi there' guys.......This is my second post here as a member Smile

Yeah, you need to use port 22. Typically, the client is smart enough to know what port to use for what type of FTP connection though.

...i know it's probably not that complicated, but before i do some 'looking in' to the server, i wanna know exactly how do i change my 404 error page, or the the 400 errors. i did this with a previous host, but that was pretty simple since i had a *cough* better *cough* control panel. Smile

Filenames are case-sensitive, so make sure you have taken that into account, chances are that will solve your 404 errors. If all else fails you can look at the error-log in your logs directory.

Only I can change that, and its server-wide, not just for one site.

The 404 page displays the way it was intended to already, nothing to look into really unless I wanted to make it customized, but that would likely confuse more people then it would help.

I have a question, it may have already been asked, but here it is:

I made an HTML page in notepad. I copy and pasted it to the public thing. Now when I go to p2b.unitedti.org/home, it says I am forbidden to access this. Why? Thanks.

You have to make sure that the file at least has read permissions for all (444), and the directory it's in--as well as all the directories that that directory is in--has at least execute permissions for all (111).

Rename your file index.html and try just http://p2b.unitedti.org/

Edit: 8622? What about 1337?

I don't want 8622 there. I have an HTML file for a homepage, but it just shows 8622.

changing an error page requires the server admin to enable .htaccess files. which Ive heard can cause security issues if not written properly...Im not real up on them though since the only free host I've found that allows them is 5gigs.

anyway, you dont really need to change it either.

So that it's known, this problem was cleared up on IRC—the solution being something I'm afraid to admit for him. Razz

This is to let everyone know the FTP process has been changed with the server upgrade. Please follow the settings in the screenshots to regain access to your files.

You will also need to accept the security certificate.

Please note SFTP will no longer work, and SSH access is no longer available due to security concerns.

Not a chance because I can't jail it in a chroot.

Also if you are having problems getting a directory listing with the above mentioned FTP settings, make sure you have Passive mode (PASV) enabled.
