Anyone know any good, free hosting? Geocities sux: too low limit on bandwidth. Angelfire too: no remote linking.

No good stuff I haven't already posted in the previous thread, but if you really need a good host, I'd just pay the 5$ or so a month and get a reliable, good host, like tengun.net.

Maybe you could strike a deal with AlienCC, he's hosting from this server.

Or maybe you could wait about 2-3 weeks and have your own subdomain.unitedti.org virtual host as a UnitedTI Member.

Its a change thats been in the works for a while and once we get settled in on this new server I will start setting up UTI Members with their own subdomain off UTI. This will be to replace the old http://unitedti.org/members/username/ hosting that we used to provide.

Can we put in anything we want in that member.unitedti.org domain, or only calc-related stuff?

If you can find one, use a site with very little commercials, but low bandwidth and not much space. Then use picture hosting sites for pictures, so you don't use much space.

Or wait until you have an uti site.

We will be giving out enough space to host a website and assoicated pictures.

It must be related to calculators, or something similar. No, you can't post just anything.

Find one that has popups (I used freeweboage.org a while ago), then put JavaScript in your pages to close them or don't allow users that don't have Firefox or Opera. Smile

About 20% of our visitors use a Non-I.E. based webbrowser, and that percentage tends to increase slightly each month, do you really want to disallow 1 out of 5 people going to your website from actually viewing it?

Really, just hang on until I finish getting things restored and then we can talk about what will and won't be allowed from the UTI subdomain hosting.

He said disallow those who don't have Firefox or Opera, not disallow those who don't have IE.

I still got a hell of a lot of popups with the google bar too. The only thing that worked for me was Firefox and a cleaning by 3 different anti-adware/spyware programs. a me for using Kazaa..

I found a useful bit of JavaScript code to kill geocities annoying frame ad. Actually it kills any frame but the one its in, so it works for .tk domain names as well. here it is:

<script language="javascript">
if (top.location != self.location) { // if your page isn't on top
top.location = self.location; // then make the location of the top page your page
}
-->
</script>

You can just select to turn off the ads for your .tk domain.

But .tk doesn't work well.
