I have taken the liberty of re-registering #UnitedTI on DarthAndroid's server.

Click here to open this channel in PJIRC. (Java client, web based)

EDIT: for some reason, this forum seems really adamant about adding an "http://" to my second link. The link should be "irc://dragonz.dyndns.org:6667/UnitedTI". Sorry for the inconvienience.

Would it be possible to have times when lots of people could get on at once and talk, ones that were set beforehand? As an example, maybe everyone could get on at 02:00 GMT or something.

Just an idea to possibly encourage usage...

well, the server is up 24/7, so pick a time that fits most members. JAC, can you try attaching a poll to this topic?

that could give problems, because we all live in different time zones. If someone lives in California, for example, and we should go online on 2 AM GMT, then it's 4 PM there, but 1 AM for example in Holland ( Sad ) cuz there is 9 hours time difference.

You always have that problem, whatever time you go online

Except that Holland is GMT+1, not -1, and California is GMT-8, not -10. So 02:00GMT = 03:00GMT+1 and 18:00GMT-8, 03:00 is not 1AM and 18:00 is not 4PM.

20:00 GMT works the best I think, then it's 12:00 to 02:00 for everyone from GMT-8 to GMT+6, and I don't think we have an awefull lot of Asian visitors, if any at all.

But I won't be logging in at predetermined times anyway, I think it's pointless since nobody's going to and would rather log in whenever I wish like everybody else. Just being online whenever you want is better than some specific predetermined time anyway.

By "re-registering on DarthAndroid's server" I of course meant "re-registering, this time on DarthAndroid's server". When you stated "oftentimes such moods are lost online", you have no idea (figure of speech...) just how right you are... Smile

You mean we have someone who lives further east than GMT+5? And I don't think I'll be logging on at 1 AM in the summer either...

you can log on when ever you want, how ever there may be more or less people depending on the time

I find that the large networks tend to have more spam bots and can be less friendlier.
Besides, i can use the usercount Wink

A good oper who knows how to do things won't have any spam issues, etc.

Well, there's also my friend's network SqueakNet. (I used to run a server.)
The big tech site OSNN.net hosts it's official channel there. (OK it's because one of the network opers is an administrator, but still.)

also, if you want to host your channel on my net, the java applet will auto join a channel if the url is structured as such: http://dragon-fire.org/?act=irc&chan=channel
where channel is the name of the channel without the preceding hash (#)
if channel is not specified, the applet auto joins #Lobby
